Global Health Research Centres Call 1 - Research and Institutional Capacity Strengthening in Non-Communicable Diseases
The first call of the Global Health Research Centres programme will fund and designate NIHR Global Health Research Centres in non-communicable diseases.
The Global Health Research Centres programme provides substantive funding to support research-driven partnerships between institutions in low and middle income countries (LMICs) and in the UK.
The first call will fund centres to undertake high quality research in non-communicable diseases and support the development of a critical mass of sustainable, competitive research capacity.
Funding awards of up to £10 million over five years (with an option to add two extra years) are available to consortia made up of one UK institution and up to four LMIC institutions.
For more information, please read our Call Remit and Guidance and Guidance Notes for Completing the Stage 1 Application Form.
The submission deadline is 31 March 2021 (13:00 BST).
NIHR will not accept the same or substantially similar applications across multiple NIHR Global Health Research calls. NIHR will accept applications from the same or similar teams across more than one NIHR Global Health Research call where the aims and research proposals are substantially different.
NIHR held two 90-minute webinars to provide information about the new Global Health Research Centres funding programme and support applicants to the first funding call, on Wednesday 25 November. A recording of the webinar is available on the NIHR YouTube channel. For a copy of the slides, please email ghrcentres [at] nihr.ac.uk.
